16 September 1958 Jennifer Tilly was born in Los Angeles in extremely substandard circumstances. Her mother, who was a failing actor and schoolteacher, sold automobiles, while her father worked as an automobile salesman. Jennifer, as the second child of four, frequently was a part of theater productions with her mother and was very impressed. Jennifer's divorce came about at the age of five. Jennifer was brought up to British Columbia by her mother, who moved with her siblings. Jennifer was not a scholar, though as a youngster she was very artistic. As a result of her education at Canada's public schools Jennifer came under the sway of much bullying. When her passion for theater was fading, she began to participate in theatre plays to help her mom. She was the one who encouraged all her kids to develop a passion for the arts.
